HMO Ratings Show Improved Health Care

In response to the release of the California Office of the Patient Advocate's 2009 HMO Report Card, CAHP CEO Christopher Ohman issued the following statement.

SACRAMENTO - "The HMO Report Card shows there has been a significant improvement by health plans and our overall health care system in meeting national standards of patient care, which is an important move in the right direction. Health plans are committed to ensuring their members have access to high quality care and we are pleased with the progress to date.

The Report Cards also shows that as consumers further experience the skyrocketing costs of medical care, there is bound to be an impact on their overall satisfaction. It is therefore imperative that policymakers work collaboratively to control the rising cost of medical care throughout the entire health care system and help ensure Californian's can secure affordable insurance for themselves and their families."

CAHP is a statewide trade association representing 39 full-service health plans. Through legislative advocacy, education and collaboration with other member organizations, CAHP works to sustain a strong environment in which our member plans can provide access to products that offer choice and flexibility to the more than 24 million members they serve.
